Thanksgiving is right around the corner for our Canadian friends and we can hardly wait to see what delicious cannabis infused dishes you whip up!
If you plan on entertaining guests during your cannabis infused Thanksgiving dinner, it is important to remember that not only are you in charge of satisfying their taste buds, but you are also in charge of keeping them comfortable and safe. With that in mind, consider our five tips on how to safely enjoy a cannabis infused Thanksgiving dinner!
We all have a different tolerance level to cannabis and it is important that you take everyone’s preferences into account. If all of the guests at your dinner table are cannabis lovers, it may be helpful to ask for their desired dosage ahead of time. This will give you an idea of the appropriate dosage for you dishes and you can even label them so everyone knows what they are about to enjoy!
If the majority of your guests request a lower dose meal, you’ll want to leave many of your dishes cannabis free! An easy way to do so is to only infuse your sides and sauces, such as cranberry sauce or gravy. Everyone can then add their desired dose while still eating a full meal!
As always with edibles, it is important to remind your guests to start low and go slow when enjoying your cannabis infused foods. If you enjoy infused dishes during dinner, we recommend keeping the dessert uninfused or infusing with CBD. This will also help to counteract the effects of the THC should anyone find themselves a little too high after dinner.
Alcohol can have an amplifying effect on the intoxicating feelings of THC and, as such, we recommend omitting alcohol from your Thanksgiving meal. If you have opted for CBD infused dishes instead of THC, limited amounts of alcohol, like a glass of wine, would be reasonable.
Consider the safety of your guests and ensure that they have a safe place to sleep or a ride home if they will be partaking in your cannabis infused dishes and/or consuming alcohol. You may consider tapping into your childhood and making a sleepover part of the Thanksgiving fun! You and your guests can relax while enjoying the delicious meal you’ve prepared without worrying of having to make it home.
